How Rare is the Prizm GSi?

There were 2,972 four door sedans produced for the 1990 model year.  The car pictured above was the only one that I was able to find on Craigslist as of August 29, 2016.  Still a runner, according to the seller – it has been for sale for a couple of months by now, having found no one ambitious enough to either straighten a significant number of body panels, or put it out of its misery and harvest the drivetrain.

Overall Production Numbers

  • 1990
    • Notchback – 2,972
    • Hatchback – 593
  • 1991
    • Notchback – 2,013
    • Hatchback – 237
  • 1992
    • Notchback – 1,215
    • Hatchback – 0

Are they rare?  You be the judge, but especially in the case of the hatchback, I would submit that with fewer than 900 ever built, yeah they are.  Whether or not the Prizm GSi is a legitimate collector vehicle is another question.  So – this brings up an important point.  You – the reader, can do a great service to the GSi community by submitting leads on cars for sale.  Craigslist, local ads, cars by the side of the road, whatever.  Let me know – let’s save the Prizm GSi!
