Obviously, the prizmgsi.com Prizm GSi wouldn’t be rolling around for long with one presentable aluminum wheel and three dilapidated messes. No more than a few weeks at least…
So, off they came – one at a time for minimum scissor jack efficiency and maximum space-saver tire decrepitude fouling the driveway. Post -work, -dinner and -family time for several chilly nights, the same plan:
- Remove dingy aluminum wheel using factory jack, leftover ratchet, and iPhone used as a light source
- Replace with factory spare
- Strip old finish in two applications of citrus-scented chemical
- Replace newly shine-ish aluminum wheel using factory jack, leftover ratchet, and iPhone used as a light source.
While one had aquarium silicone sealant (not) holding the center cap on – as pictured above – overall the set was not in terrible condition. The aquarium wheel had a pretty significant case of curb rash as seen below, so I think the next plan of action will be some serious time with various grits of sandpaper in pursuit of a mirror shine.
For now, we’ll be happy with shine-ish.
